Alpha Course?

We are exploring the idea of running an Alpha course in Berkeley (possibly in the autumn), if there are enough people willing to work together in planning, organising and running the course.
Please consider whether you feel you could be part of the team; you don't need to have had previous experience of Alpha. To find out more, please talk to Alice, Elaine, Jean, Jenny Avery, Patricia or Richard Avery. (Or e-mail alice@familyprice.com)

Diamond Jubilee Celebration Sunday 3rd June Following various discussions in all three churches of the benefice, we plan one joint Jubilee Celebration Service. It will be a Communion service that is accessible to children, starting 10.30am at St Mary’s Berkeley. You are invited come to The Vicarage after the service for a Bring and Share Lunch. If the weather is good, we’ll use the back garden, but there’s room inside if it rains. Our Queen’s Jubilees have been occasions to bring people together and share a meal. It seems a fitting opportunity to bring our parishes together for this celebration.

Table Tomb Conservation Project Work to start
Towards the end of this month we are expecting the stonemasons to start working on the tabletombs. They will work to stabilise the structures and carry out conservation work that will help keep the tombs in a reasonable state for a while to come.
Do you have photos? Do you happen to have photos that clearly show any tabletombs that have now collapsed or have significantly deteriorated since the photo was taken? If you do have a such a photo and you could scan it and send it to pewsheet@stmarys-berkeley.co.uk or give a photocopy to a churchwarden or PCC member that would be very useful.
Students mapping tombs As part of their course the Bristol University archaeology students work on the development of their mapping skills. You may see students working in the churchyard, they are plotting the positions of all the stones. We do not have an accurate plan of the churchyard and anything they can contribute will be of use, they may not finish this year but there is always another year.

Prayers Personal prayers can be found in the printed pewsheet
IIn the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, today, Ascension Sunday, is being remembered as Anglican Communion Sunday. We pray for the whole of the Anglican Communion, and especially remember those charged with the appointment of the next Archbishop of Canterbury.
In the Diocese of Gloucester, we pray for the Dean of Women Clergy, Robbin Clark.
We pray for the work of Gloucester City Mission, one of the mission agencies we support at St Mary’s, and Mike Curtis, its director.
We pray for all the children and young people in our church; for the leaders of Diversity, the BOB team and those involved in presenting Open the Book in our primary school.
From the Prayer Cross: For Alan and Lucy – in our prayers, thoughts and hearts.
If you would like to submit a prayer to the pew sheet, please send it to: prayers@stmarys-berkeley.co.uk
